Artistic Director G. Kevin Dewey
Artistic Director G. Kevin Dewey earned a Bachelor’s degree in jazz studies and a Master’s degree in choral conducting from Wayne State University. He has been conducting area choirs for four decades and also brings to the podium his experience as a professional vocal and instrumental performer, composer, and arranger. Kevin is a member of the music faculty and Director of Choirs at Henry Ford College, where he conducts HFC Chorus, Renaissance Voices and Blue Fusion vocal jazz ensemble.
In summer months, Dewey directs the 130-plus voice Dearborn Summer Chorus. He has led the stage orchestra in the Players Guild of Dearborn productions of Chicago and 1940s Radio Hour as well as the HFC productions of Sweeney Todd, Pippin, The Music Man, The Wiz, Oliver, Tommy, Grease and Hairspray.
In recognition of his then 20-plus years of choral conducting and community involvement, Dewey was presented the Mayor’s Award for contributions to the cultural life of his native city of Dearborn in 1996.
Dewey leads the ensembles he conducts with vibrancy, enthusiasm and the joy of performing the world’s great music.
