2004 - 2005 Concert Season: New Music for the Choral World
Vanguard Voices will bring several new and dynamic works into the choral repertoire this season. Augustus O. Hill’s exciting and rhythmic Psalms Of Praise – a piece commissioned in 2004 – will premiere in December. In June, the top award winners in the Vanguard Premieres choral composition contest will receive their first public performances. Choral Suite by American composer Larry A. Christiansen sets to
music five poems penned by different writers. Peruvian composer Antonio Gervasoni’s A-nir matches an ancient Sumerian text to driving and intense
seven-part harmonies. Other outstanding entries from Vanguard Premieres also will debut throughout the season.
